Our Coaching Staff

Coach Jaime Sierra was born in Mexico City and moved to San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 12. He attended San Antonio Reagan High School, where he was a two-year Varsity Basketball letterman and a National Merit Scholar.

After graduating from Reagan, Coach Sierra attended UTSA and earned a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology.

Upon graduating from UTSA, Coach Sierra returned to his alma mater and joined the basketball staff.

During his time at Reagan, Coach Sierra served as a Strength & Conditioning Coordinator and a Defensive Coordinator for the Varsity team. Over eight years, he helped lead teams to three district championships, seven playoff appearances, and a school-record 32 wins and regional tournament appearance in the 2021-22 season.

The Vipers had a successful first year under Coach Sierra. The 2022-23 Vandegrift Vipers finished with a 22-13 record and clinched a playoff appearance. The 22 wins were more than the previous two seasons combined and included multiple wins over top-10-ranked 6A opponents.

Coach Sierra has been married to his wife, Breanna, for 10 years, and they have three beautiful children: Emma (6), Luke (4), and Abby (1).

Coach Walling is entering his sixth year of coaching and his third year at VHS, where he serves as JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach.

Coach Walling spent his first three years as an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Langham Creek High School in Houston. Before that, he spent two years as a Graduate Assistant Manager with the University of Texas women's basketball team.

He has a Bachelor's degree in History from Angelo State University, where he also played on the basketball team, and a Master's degree in Sports Management from the University of Texas.

Coach Walling is originally from San Angelo, Texas, and is a graduate of Wall High School.
